The Role

We are now seeking a new Housing Component Manufacturing Operator to join our busy and friendly Housing Component Manufacturing Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for component manufacture, including responsibility for material control, component storage, housekeeping, basic equipment maintenance and fabrication support tasks.

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual interested and looking to get into metal work or component manufacturing. This is a chance for someone looking to learn a new skill as you will be working as part of a team in a busy environment, so we are looking for motivated people who take pride in their work and who have a desire to progress their career.

The candidate will also be expected to undertake the following tasks:

• Preparation of materials for both stock and subcontract operations
• Sub-assembly fabrication (drilling, cutting, rolling, grinding, spot welding, etc)
• Component manufacture duties including operating of press machinery, sheet metal machinery and other metalworking equipment.
• Completion of works orders and location control
• Stock location & re-location of all components and raw materials, maintaining traceability & location control at all times
• Regular stock checking & stock query resolution
• Basic equipment maintenance
• Operating in a 5S environment
• Control of workshop consumables
• Departmental housekeeping
• Providing cover to the Housing Production Team when required, including the movement of goods to and from local suppliers
• Involvement in continuous improvement projects

The Candidate

The successful candidate will find this an interesting and challenging position. There is no previous essential experience required for this role but the desirable criteria for this role is:

Desirable:

• Experience of working within an Engineering Workshop
• Experience of and ability to read Engineering Drawings
• Experience in using metal working equipment.
• Stock management experience (i.e. booking in and out of parts)
• Forklift Truck Licence (preferably Reach)
• Team player with good collaboration skills
• Good verbal communication
• Good level of numeracy
• Quality focused with good attention to detail and excellent accuracy
• Organised and efficient
• Ability to work on own initiative
